FIELD IMPROVEMENTS, Spring 2008 The dugout fences at Community 2 and 3 were revamped to make it safer for players entering and leaving the field. Some fence repair/upgrade work was also done at Angell and Pattengill. The cost of the improvements was around $5,000.00. This also provided us with a small storage area at each field for maintenance tools.
FIELD IMPROVEMENTS, FALL 2007 Dads’ Club Member Sean Morrissey and SUMMIT TRANSPORT of Brighton have volunteered to donate and deliver 90 tons of Infield Clay Mix. The Dads’ Club kicked in another $12,000.00 to cover the Community Fields. We will be contacting the other Organizations who use these fields and seeking contributions to help offset the cost of this project.
FIELD IMPROVEMENTS, Spring 2004 The Dads' Club renovated the infield at Community Field #1. This was an expensive endeavor costing over $10,000.00. Home plate and the pitcher's mound were rebuilt, the grade was leveled and new sprinkler lines were installed. The Berkley School District has agreed to help out with the cost, and we are very grateful to them for that!!We also had considerable help from the Berkley Parks and Recreation Department.
Throughout the years, Kevin Price and the whole department have been instrumental in keeping the standards of Youth Baseball in our City very high.
A major part of the quality of these fields is constant maintenance. Managers will be asked to contribute to this by raking and tamping the fields after the games and practices.
We anticipate further improvements to all the other fields we use, and we hope to get everyone's cooperation in the ongoing maintenance required to keep them in good playing condition!
Special thanks to Ken Graveline for taking this project over, and seeing it through from start to finish.
SCOREBOARD INSTALLATION, April, 2004
